Course Overview

This is a 3-hour live in person course, virtual optional, designed for physical rehab business owners and leaders. This course provides a comprehensive overview of the foundations of risk management for rehab professionals covering liability, licensure and reputational risk. Through an exploration of legal, ethical, and regulatory considerations, participants will learn and understand ways to identify and mitigate risk throughout their business or organization.

The course covers critical topics such as informed consent, releasing information (HIPPA), terminating a therapist/client relationship, managing poor outcomes and more. The idea is to help clinical rehab leaders learn to think like a risk management professional in identifying and mitigating risk of loss to financial, human capital and reputation for their business or organization. Case examples and practical tools will help participants learn to best assess and mitigate in real time and how to follow up after adverse events and poor outcomes. Participant will learn how to apply these principles to daily clinical practice and operations. This course is relevant for clinicians in all practice settings who wish to enhance their risk awareness and safeguard their business and clinicians practice while still being able to focus on the big picture for growth of their business.
